1st Sanquhar International Art Festival – 29 & 30 November

Artists, animators and authors contributing to this Festival include Fiona Carruthers, David Carruthers, Christine Nobre. Eri Nakamura. Daria Alexandra, David Rushton, Raine Talley, Shasta Stevic. The Reception at the Nithsdale Hotel on 29th November at 13:00 will feature an initial screening of the animation Becoming Hannah Höch on the German Dada artist and the launch of the new book Art as Conceit – on minimalism and conceptual art’s influence on the structure of art in the early 1970s. Otherwise the exhibitions will be open at MERZ on the afternoon of the 29th and at both MERZ and the Museum of Model Art on the afternoon of the 30th. Animator Daria Alexandra will introduce the early ‘film’ making praxinoscope at the Museum and assist with making short animations for film.
